Members of our management team recently spent time in the USA for the biggest glazing conference seen in America for a decade.
We travelled to Atlanta, Georgia, for the 2023 GlassBuild America Expo, hosted by the US-based National Glass Association. The two-day event featured almost 500 exhibiting companies, including Debar, and attracted around 8,500 attendees.
During the course of the event, which included an Executives’ Forum plus various talks and workshops, our expert representatives made many industry contacts between glazing representatives from across the world. We also proudly introduced our latest products including the Robus Compact slim lock as well as our collection of Veltè handles. We even offered visitors an exclusive sneak peak of the brand new heavy duty bi-fold system, which can achieve up to 3.7m, that we’re due to release into the market next year.
One of our team members that travelled overseas was Tim Shaw, who was promoted last year to the role of International Sales Manager. Tim has worked at Debar for seven years and over the past 12 months has been instrumental in developing the firm’s international strategy.
“Visiting GlassBuild America was a fantastic experience,” he said, “and it was great to be able to talk about what we do at Debar and showcase our products to people from right across the world. We met so many people, including overseas clients such as Vinyltek, and received some incredible feedback on our products. We hope that the links we’ve made will turn into exciting opportunities for growth as time goes on.”
In his role, Tim closely explores worldwide trends to drive growth in key target markets and being front and centre in Atlanta created a fantastic opportunity to gain incredible insights into the bi-fold market.
Tim is no stranger to travelling overseas and also attended the Sunspace Conference in Canada earlier this year. As bi-fold doors are yet to gain any significant traction in this area of the world, Tim and our MD Peter Sutcliffe presented to over 350 people to help educate them on the impressive system.
Our team will also be heading to Dubai at the end of this year to attend the largest and most influential event for the construction industry, Big 5 Global.
“There’s nothing better than meeting with people face to face and we can’t wait to be in Dubai at this prestigious event in just a few weeks’ time,” concludes Tim.
